Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed, representing the Gandey Assembly constituency in Jharkhand, has submitted his resignation from the Legislative Assembly, citing personal reasons. The news of Ahmed's resignation, which had been circulating for several days, has been officially confirmed by Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato.
The Speaker stated, "He has submitted his resignation to me. I have informed the Assembly Secretariat, and the concerned departments will also be informed. He resigned citing personal reasons."
Sarfaraz Ahmed, who had previously been associated with Congress, joined JMM and won the Gandey Assembly seat in the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections. The resignation has sparked political discussions, with BJP MP Nishikant Dubey targeting Chief Minister Hemant Soren on social media.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, a veteran in Jharkhand politics with a 50-year-long career, has previously held significant positions in Congress and served as the State Congress President of undivided Bihar. Speculations arise regarding his future political affiliations, with suggestions that he may consider returning to Congress.
